As Cook County Commissioner of the 2nd District, I represent one of the most diverse districts in Cook County. It is also one of three County districts that are wholly located within the boundaries of the City of Chicago. The 2nd District goes as far north as North Avenue, south to 74th Street, East to King Drive and West to Laramie. It is comprised of all or parts of Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, and 42 which represents neighborhoods such as Austin, Dearborn Park, Englewood, East and West Garfield, North Lawndale, Little Italy, Noble Square, River North, Washington Park and West Loop.

To ensure that I represent and address the concerns and issues of the residents of the 2nd District, I focus on what matters most in my district, the people. I try to live by the motto “Don’t be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution.”

As Commissioner my focus has been on community and economic development, health care, education, restorative justice and leadership. I am also a proponent of everyone receiving fair, honest and transparent opportunities to do business with Cook County. As Chairman of Cook County and Forest Preserve District Contract Compliance Committees, I monitor and scrutinize all County and Forest Preserve District contracts and purchases to ensure that all County departments and vendors comply with the Cook County Minority, Women, Veteran, and Service Disabled Veteran-owned Business Enterprise Ordinance.

It is my intent to keep you informed and engaged on what we are doing in Cook County government and to work with community organizations, United States and State of Illinois Legislators and City of Chicago Aldermen so I can properly advocate for your concerns and issues.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
