is the motto in which Robert Steele Cook County Commissioner lives by. This motto was instilled in the mindset and work ethics of Commissioner Steele from his mother Bobbie L Steele, the first female Cook County President and former Commissioner for the 2nd District of Cook County. As the oldest son of Bobbie L. Steele, hard work, commitment to public service, passion for people and community development undoubtedly were values that stuck with Commissioner Steele.

Commissioner Steele, a life long Chicagoan and community activist, strives to provide better solutions in the face of adversity. With more than 30 years of public service experience, Robert Steele is a commissioner with proven results and accomplishments to showcase extreme dedication, passion, leadership and strategies improving his district by focusing on what matters most; the people.
Living by the motto “Don’t be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution”, Commissioner Steele’s focus has been on community development, health care, education and leadership. Education is a major strongpoint in his community strategy and his goal is to educate the youth of the community. Leading by example, Steele is a Graduate of Westinghouse High School, Morgan State University, and Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.
Meaningful and Measureable Service
Commissioner Steele’s extensive list of meaningful and measurable service includes the establishment and growth of North Lawndale small businesses, training and placement of North Lawndale youth into employment in partner with Joyce’s Fine Arts Academy, organizing and advising Chicago Park District Councils on improving community parks, sponsoring Cook County Contract Management Ordinance, bringing Empowerment Zone economic development program to the City of Chicago, as well as providing leadership and services on the Cook County Board of Constituents.

Commissioner Steele is a dynamic leader and major contributor providing insight on several Committees At Large including Construction, Criminal Justice, Finance, Health & Hospitals, Information Technology and Automation, Legislation, Intergovernmental & Veterans Relations, Real Estate & Business & Economic Development, Roads & Bridges, Rules & Administration, and Zoning & Building.
Robert Steele, Cook County Commissioner, is currently the Chairman of Lawndale Christian Health Center Board, Lawndale Neighborhood Housing Advisory Board, Contract Compliance Committee and Human Relations Committee. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of Environmental Control Committee and President of the Board of Trustee of Frazier Preparatory Academy.
His passion for people extends beyond the community into his personal life as a member of Lawndale Christian Church, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, all around family man and proud, dedicated father of two children.
