August 1, 2009 – Picnic
The picnic is an annual event held each summer. Approximately 300 people attend each year. The event is geared toward families and seniors. The picnic is a fun-filled event held at one of the picnic groves at the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. It’s an opportunity for families and seniors to experience nature at its best. Lunch is provided and buses are provided from select locations within the 2nd District. There are activities for everyone throughout the day including music, pony rides, games and school supplies giveaways.

- November 21, 2009 – Senior Citizen’s Thanksgiving Luncheon
The Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon is held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Over 500 senior citizens have participated each year. Seniors are served a meal by volunteers in a warm and festive atmosphere. Every year there is great entertainment, good conversation and a delectable meal. Transportation is provided to and from several senior housing complexes in the 2nd District.
- December 17, 2009 – Adopt a Shelter
The Adopt a Shelter program is an annual program. Prior to the holiday season a shelter in the 2nd district is identified. Volunteers donate and wrap gifts for the children approximately 30 children. Additionally, donations of toiletries are gathered to aide the shelter in it’s basic needs. On a selected delivery date volunteers visit the families and share the holiday spirit by delivering gifts and singing carols.
