Register to Vote

There are several ways that you can register to vote:

  • Register by mail.
  • Register in-person by visiting:
    • One of the Cook County Clerk’s six locations.
    • Your Village or City township clerk
    • An Illinois Secretary of State’s Driving Facilities.
    • Trained volunteer Deputy Registrars may register you to vote.

Voter Qualifications

You must be a United States Citizen, 18 years old by Election Day and a resident of a precinct thirty days prior to an election.

Early Voting

To make voting more convenient for senior citizens, and to accommodate busy schedules, Illinois residents can vote early by casting ballots prior to elections. Or you may call the County Clerk’s office at 312.603.0900 for early voting information.

When to Re-Register to Vote

If you have an address or name change you must re-register to vote.
